I came to know the Lord in 1998 through my boss at a furniture company in Laguna who every Saturday led his employees in Bible Study. Every time we gathered for the study, I would experience an ache in my heart as though what he said was meant for me alone. The Scriptures that were read, brought tears to my eyes. One day, I asked Jesus to forgive my sins and to be my Lord and Savior. And He did!
A fisherman by trade, the sea was my source of livelihood. While fishing one day, my friends and I were caught in a storm. Our boat drifted and we thankfully found refuge on an island called Calutcot. During my time there, I met a young woman, whom I courted and in time, she became my wife.
Years later, after fishing in different areas, our path brought us back again to Calutcot. I was happily surprised to see that a PMF Church was now in the village. I was able to get to know Pastor Ed Genotiva. Pastor Ed discipled me, and I became the guitarist for the church worship team as well as helping all around the church.
I did not notice how quickly the time passed because I was deeply involved in attending Bible studies with Pastor Ed. It was the joy of my life! Pastor Ed challenged me to listen and pray about God’s guidance as He might be calling for me to serve Him full-time. It was perfect timing to be challenged, because PMA Headquarters Office sent leaders to teach a group of us. I was gratefully able to complete my studies in 2008 in Manila. When I returned to Culutcot, I had made my decision to serve the Lord with my life. Pastor Ed then assigned me to lead a Bible Study at Amaga, which became our home and a new church plant.
In Amaga, we encountered many trials but we did not give up because we knew that the Lord had called us there to serve Him. PMA was now supporting us and the new church plant. My family and I continue to experience challenges here in Amaga, yet we always see the hand of God working out things for the good in our lives. Now, we have a house and a church with faithful, eager members. Up to this very moment, the Lord has always been with us. He has always provided, He has never abandoned us, no matter what the situation. His Love endures forever!
